#Wipmadness Week 1 of 2015!

Are you all ready to start 2015 off with a bang?

I don't know about the rest of you but this last month with illness of my pet cockatiel, stress of the holidays, deadlines, and just life in general, I ended up suffering a mega bout of blahs or:

To start the new year off, let's share what our goals are for this month.  Nothing too big but enough to get our creative juices running again!

**Love this blog post from YA author Shannon Delany on setting achievable writing goals:

http://linkis.com/uncommonya.com/1/pos/tutk0

Favorite advice: ...“But what if I don’t achieve a goal?” you ask.  “Worse yet—what if I can’t achieve the goal that is really the first of my building blocks of my success?”Then adjust. Forgive yourself and adjust your goals and maybe your timelineBe realistic and—perhaps most important—be kind to yourself....Shannon Delany

I'll start:

My goal is to finish this revision and send off to publisher!  I'm almost there!  So this should be doable.

Also will say 'no' more.  I just did this the other day as I 'dropped' out of a group as I wasn't doing my share and frankly I couldn't 'connect' with the other writers in the group.  I think they felt the same way too.

Remember, I'm in your corner, cheering you all on!   And here's a little Audrey Hepburn to perk you all up!

**Also thinking of giving away a book if you comment here and RT on Twitter/FB!

Here's a photo of some books I'm giving away.

A couple contemporary YAs and one epic fantasy.  I'll announce winner next Monday.

My goal for January is to finish the first draft of my YA SF novel. This looks doable--I'm at 35 K, over half-way there--except I'm also expecting edits sometime this month on Obsidian & Ice, which may derail things.
Since the events of the summer, I have really struggled to stay motivated and to connect with my writing self. Just before the holidays, however, I had an epiphany and I'm and flying in a new direction. My goal for this month is to continue research into my new medium and begin to construct a plan for the novel. Research involves a lot of reading so there will be less writing but a whole LOT of thinking!

Thanks for reviving #wipmadness

Saying no more. Gosh I hope I'm able to do that! Sorry about your pup, Kim. I hope everyone is healthy and becoming more stress-free as January progresses. I have no writing goals as yet. Taking a little time to catch up on life. Thanks so much for hosting!

Mary Ann,

Don't you LOVE it when you get those epiphanies with your writing? Mine has come and gone. Hoping to get my motivation back. This OCCRWA class I'm taking should help. Plus, getting a rose this Saturday at my RWA meeting for signing another contract.

Thanks for stopping in!

Denise,

It was our pet cockatiel Jenny that was having lots of problems. After two months of meds/going to an avian specialist, she finally succumbed last night. I'm sad but also relieved that she's no longer in pain.

Yes, I'm hoping to get back on track too with my writing.

Thanks for stopping in!

I'm in the mulling stage--lots of thinking, brainstorming, free-writing, etc. Hopefully as I sift through all this (and yes, mull), I'll get a handle on this project soon. My goal is to be well settled into drafting by the end of the month. (I'm in that antsy, need-to-be-writing stage, but the story hasn't quite caught up to me.)

Shari,

Mulling is good! Sometimes you just got to sit back and muse over what to write and not force it!

Glad you dropped by!
