WIPMADNESS Week 1

In my book NO MORE GODDESSES, Jordan wants so much for the hawt boy of the campus, Ethan, to send her a Valentine gram. In my book these grams are kind of like someone asking you to the Valentine Dance.

My son's charter school is going to pass out Valentine Grams too this week.

The saying is: I'm bursting with happiness that you're my friend.

I thought for the first week of Wipmadness that we'd share a positive in our current project. What are you bursting with happiness over in your story? What keeps you working on it?

For me it has to be Espie's journey to finding out not only the truth about her community but herself. While writing this I'm finding myself using some of my own struggles/conflicts with my faith.

In my second book in the goddesses book it has to be doing all the research on Paris! Never in a bazillion years did I think I'd want to learn French or go to Paris. But for Jordan, Paris is romance!

***Added bonus!

You all know how much I LOVE reading! And I love to share! Comment for a chance of winning either:

Thank you for hosting this month, Kim! :)

The setting is a big "positive" for me with my latest wip -- it's my "beachy book", with sun, surf, and sand. So fun hanging out in that version of paradise, lol!

Thanks for hosting, Kim!

I know there are parts of this WIP that I really love later in the book, but I've been really micro-focused on the beginning lately, so it's difficult to remember those later bits. I am, however, really happy with how the rewrite of the beginning has been going.

Ooh, Shari! A beach book? Sounds fab!

Denise,

Being happy with how your rewrite is going is HUGE!
Hello, Kim and everyone!

As busy as January was, I missed our check-ins. :) It took me three weeks to stop checking Hootsuite for check-in links. haha

I've discovered new connections between characters that enrich the conflict. I'd call that a positive. Considering the WIP is a Fractured Tales Series, there are many literary characters to work with. However, it's tricky to make these connections relevant, interesting and realistic (as realistic as possible in a YA Fantasy). I suppose the correct word is believable. Relatable, too.

Revisions are as fun as writing the 'sagging middle', or so I thought. I'm actually enjoying the process.

Speaking of French, that's one of the languages I'm taking this first semester back in the academic world. It's been some time since I was in school-mode, but in the WIP I call life, this experience is also a big positive.

Have a great week, everyone!

Cheers,

Tonette

Tonette,

Thanks for stopping by! Yes, finding the connections between characters and conflict is a positive. You do have to work it in a way that it comes across as believable. Boy, do I know that! Working on that myself with this one revision!

How is French coming? I was signed up to take it last May but the class was canceled. Hope to try again!

Phew. Boy did I miss checking in with y'all in January. I did hear from a few on FB, and I also received love from Denise. She sent me a gift, a copy of her book, WRITING WITH A HEAVY HEART. Some of you may know, but I lost my mother on Christmas Day. It was unexpected and needless to say, a loss I'm still struggling with. Things are beginning, slowly, to look up.

I'm not much on Twitter these days. A long story. That doesn't mean I'll never go back, and it also doesn't mean I don't <3 all of you!! In case y'all need me, I am on Facebook (Candilynn-Fite Writer) and I'm still blogging at http://cfitewrite.blogspot.com

As for me, the writing has been difficult, so I moved on to revising a novel I wrote in 2012. So many positives and things I love about it, it's hard to pick one! I'd have to say the humor is what I'm most enjoying. As I'm rewriting, I'm reading aloud and adding more humor. I love when I read a scene, and literally, the scene unfolds before my eyes, as if I am watching it on TV.

Hope all of you are well, healthy, and happy. Hugs! :)

Candilynn,

Cyber hugs. It's always hard to lose a loved one especially a parent.

I'm glad that you are revisiting a project that is making you smile.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm sending positive, warm thoughts your way!
Sorry I'm so late to the party.

Candilynn, I'm so sorry about your loss. We'll keep the warm hugs flying on the wind.

I'm struggling this month. Well, for the past 2 months. Just having a hard time seeing the plot and moving from square to square. I'm also feeling like I've missed my chance again, like my writing is always going to fall short. I know these things go in waves and the tide will turn...I just hope it turns soon.

Back to it...

Mary Ann,

OMG, that's been me this past month. I'm stuck. Act 3 plot is a bust. Ugh.

Sending fairy plot work dust your way! Here's hoping we can break through the block!
