Friday Five

1. Cybils nominations are now closed.  Here's a taste of what I'll be reading in the next few month:

2. Finished edits to NO GODDESSES ALLOWED.

Now it's off to the copy editor.  Hopefully this last round of edits will be the end!

3. Finished reading SHADOW OF NIGHT by Deborah Harkness

Here's a teaser of my YABC review:

Lush backdrop of 1590 London and Prague add richness to this tale that’s much more than just a vampire story

4. Excited to be able to read the e-galley of Heidi Kling's second installment of WITCH'S BREW:

EARRINGS OF IXTUMEA was first published as an e-serial back in 2007 but I think it was ahead of it's time.  Plus, it really helps to have a publisher/editor who 'gets' YA.

I love Heidi's writing and this series is really good.  Love how the reader though can choose where the characters go.  So far, really good!

YA Books Central review coming soon!

5. Also part of the CONJURE virtual book tour:

The premise of this book intrigued me plus it's a paranormal.

Also downloaded a copy of KILL ME SOFTLY:

This one has a ONCE UPON A TIME meets GRIMM feel.

**Guilty pleasure:

Today actually shouldn't be too busy.  Shock, huh?

Tomorrow though plan on going to church's Truck or Treat.  Have to decorate the trunk of our Honda and kids/teen go around the parking lot to get treats!

My big treat to myself though was earlier this week when I went to go see PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER:

Verdict?  I really enjoyed this tale of Charlie, who begins High School hoping it'll be different.  Charlie has flashbacks of his Aunt, who died tragically on his birthday.  **I could relate with Charlie as this happened to me with my own grandmother.  It does scar you.  Only the movie doesn't say WHY his aunt never leaves him.  I had to go on Google to find out if my assumption was right--it was.  Sam is played by Emma Watson.  She's adorable and vulerable as the slutty girl with her own dark past.  Patrick is her gay step-brother with his own secret.  He's dating in secret the quarterback of his HS.  That storyline alone was pretty tragic.  This movie did stay with me after I left the theater.  The only sad thing is how this movie isn't in all the theaters.  I was the only one in the theater during the early showing.  Worth the cost.

***Also warning everyone--Next week plan to start using my webcam to practice for my upcoming Skype visit.

I really want to see this movie!!! Maybe when it's in the dollar theatres ;)

I'm really disappointed in the distribution of this movie. It's really good but probably will fall through the cracks because of limited releases.
