Overlooked Possible Titles for the Cybils
I'm really excited to be a part of the Cybils this year! There's so many great books that have been nominated.
Still I'm noticing some great reads that have slipped through the cracks.
Here's some of those books I'd love to see included in the Cybils!
UNNATURALISTS:
Love Tiffany Trent's writing and this YA steampunk is no exception!
SHADOWS:
Think Stephen King meets YA. Holy cow, the writing in this book is beyond amazing. One scene has the protagonist watch as the zombie like teens nibble on her flesh and compares herself to a Happy Meal. The images are so vivid, I swear you can hear the flesh being torn!
BLOOD KEEPER
Tessa Gratton is one of the Merry Sisters. Her writing flows beautifully even when she's describing blood.
Ay! Can you see how many great YA fantasies are out there?
This one I'm hoping someone nominates as it sounds really good!
THE UNQUIET:
I just mentioned on FB how I'm sick of books that show token parents with mental illnesses. Well, Jeannine Garsee's book shows the protagonist, who is bipolar, in very realistic light. She gets it! I love how the character tries to determine if it's her mental illness or a paranormal happening going on. Huge kuddos to this book.
THE BOOK OF BLOOD AND SHADOW
I really enjoyed this YA that had a Da Vinci Code feel to it.
ONYX.
I'm surprised no one has nominated this one yet! Love the chemistry and tension in this YA Sci-Fi that reminds me so much of ROSWELL The TV series.
A MILLION SUNS
Totally surprised this one hasn't been nominated yet! Beth does a fab job on this sequel to her first book.
SUMMER OF THE MARIPOSAS
I love Guadalupe's writing!
And this one isn't in my category but rather YA contemporary:
Tara Kelly is an amazing YA author and this book is no exception!
