YA Scavenger Hunt: Meet Amalie Howard

Welcome to YA Scavenger Hunt! This tri-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors...and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize--one lucky winner will receive one signed book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are THREE contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the BLUE TEAM--but there is also a red team and a gold team for a chance to win a whole different set of signed books!

If you'd like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt homepage.

SCAVENGER HUNT PUZZLE

Directions: Below, you'll notice that I've listed my favorite number. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the blue team, and then add them up (don't worry, you can use a calculator!). Hint: the secret number is highlighted in BLUE.

Entry Form: Once you've added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.

Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian's permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by October 6, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.

Today, I am hosting Amalie Howard on my website for the YA Scavenger Hunt!

"Seventeen Magazine Summer Club author Amalie Howard spent most of her childhood with her nose buried in a book or running around barefoot, shimmying up mango trees and dreaming of adventure. 22 countries, surfing with sharks and several tattoos later, she has traded in bungee jumping in China for writing the adventures she imagines instead. She isn’t entirely convinced which takes more guts. Amalie lives in New York with her husband and three children.

Her debut novel, BLOODSPELL, was selected as a Seventeen Magazine Summer Read. She is also the author of THE AQUARATHI Series with Harlequin TEEN (WATERFELL Nov 2013 & OCEANBORN Aug 2014), THE ALMOST GIRL with Strange Chemistry Jan 2014, and ALPHA GODDESS with Sky Pony Press Mar 2014. "

Find out more information by checking out the author website or find more about the author's book here! http://amaliehoward.com/
http://amaliehoward.com/books/

Amalie is the author of the upcoming YA book WATERFELL. She has some very distinguished credits to her list including receiving a distinction in English Literature from the University of Cambridge (A-levels) as well as a certificate in French Literature from the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, France. One fun fact about Amalie is she has not 5 but 3 tattoos.

The book Amalie is highlighting is WATERFELL

"THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE QUEEN

Nerissa Marin hides among teens in her human form, waiting for the day she can claim her birthright—the undersea kingdom stolen from her the day her father was murdered. Blending in is her best weapon—until her father’s betrayer confronts Nerissa and challenges her to a battle to the death on Nerissa’s upcoming birthday—the day she comes of age.

Amid danger and the heartbreak of her missing mother, falling for a human boy is the last thing Nerissa should do. But Lo Seavon breaches her defenses and somehow becomes the only person she can count on to help her desperate search for her mother, a prisoner of Nerissa’s mortal enemy. Is Lo the linchpin that might win Nerissa back her crown? Or will this mortal boy become the weakness that destroys her?"

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

Here's a secret bonus selection from her upcoming book WATERFELL:

"The wave’s pressure builds beneath me, picking up momentum in a matter of breaths. Gripping the sides of my board, I hop to my feet and angle my surfboard across the wave’s face, only to see that Lo is in exactly the same position as I am, with a huge grin on his face. Just a few feet apart, we’re flying at the speed of the wind on the same wave, and for a second, we share an incredible moment of perfect synchronicity.

Then the lip of wave curls over us and we are on the inside of a shimmering tunnel, the outside world visible only through the sheer wall of curling water. I can hear the tremendous roar of the it as the seconds merge into each other and time slows to a trickle. Suspended in a moving bubble, there is nothing between us but water and the swell beneath our feet. Every cell in my body is responding to the water rushing around me, so much so that it’s hard to control, hard to pull myself in … to not give in to its insistent call. I’m tingling from head to toe.

Lo’s eyes catch mine and everything inside of me electrifies."

And don't forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of signed books by me, Amalie Howard, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is 5. Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the blue team and you'll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!

CONTINUE THE HUNT

To keep going on your quest for the hunt, you need to check out the next author! Dawn Metcalf is one of my favorite YA paranormal writers!

For an added bonus, comment below for a chance to win a copy of my YA paranormal CROSSED OUT and some fun swag.

I may be sneaking after waterfell, aching for a chance to win it. I've entered a few giveaways for it, and so far nothing. But I've got this! The book sounds amazing - hence why I am after it, and so I must have it, sooner rather than later. :3
